The Chinese Imperial Breed

The Chinese Imperial Shih Tzu is a small, elegant, and charming toy breed that originated in ancient China, cherished by Chinese royalty and nobility for its luxurious appearance and affectionate nature. Known for its distinctive long, flowing coat and unique facial features, the Chinese Imperial Shih Tzu is a close relative of the standard Shih Tzu, often characterized by its smaller size and more refined look.

Here's a detailed description of a Chinese Imperial Shih Tzu:

Size: Chinese Imperial Shih Tzus are typically smaller than the standard Shih Tzu, standing around 8 to 11 inches at the shoulder and weighing between 4 to 9 pounds.

Coat: The hallmark of the Chinese Imperial Shih Tzu is its long, silky, and flowing coat. The fur is dense and luxurious, hanging straight down on either side of the body. Coat colors can vary widely and include a range of shades such as gold, silver, black, white, brown, and various combinations of these colors.

Facial Features: Chinese Imperial Shih Tzus have a distinctive pushed-in face with a short, flat muzzle. Their large, round, dark eyes exude a sweet and affectionate expression. The ears are covered with a fine layer of hair and are often set wide apart, enhancing their endearing appearance.

Body: Despite their small size, Chinese Imperial Shih Tzus possess a sturdy, well-proportioned body. They have a slightly longer body in relation to their height, and their tail is plumed and carried over the back.

Temperament: Chinese Imperial Shih Tzus are known for their gentle, affectionate, and loving nature. They thrive on human companionship and enjoy being lap dogs. With their playful side, these Chinese imperial dogs make great companions for families and individuals alike. While they have a lively spirit, they are generally more calm and less boisterous than some other toy breeds.

Lifespan: With proper care, Chinese Imperial Shih Tzus can enjoy a lifespan of 12 to 16 years or even longer.

Experienced Breeders

About Me:

With over 40 years of breeding experience, my journey began with standard Shih Tzus and transitioned into a profound love for Chinese Imperial dogs over 15 years ago. The affectionate and loyal nature of the Shih Tzu charmed me, but it was the spunky personalities, adorable flatter faces, larger eyes, and tiny noses of the Chinese Imperial Shih Tzu that truly captivated my heart.

In my breeding efforts, I prioritize health, personality, body structure, and the distinct facial features of these remarkable dogs. Every puppy is raised in my home, receiving the attention I would provide as if they were my own. I believe in a raw dog food diet and raise the puppies on raw food alongside a holistic kibble, allowing new owners the flexibility to choose their preferred feeding approach. The puppies are socialized from an early age to ensure a seamless transition into their forever homes. Typically, adoption occurs around 11-12 weeks of age, following thorough vet checks and the completion of two vaccination rounds. My commitment resonates deeply in the exceptional quality of our puppies, the strength of our breeding lines, and the nurturing environment that shapes these incredible Chinese Imperial dogs.
